Linguistic Analysis of paraphrases in Seminar Dialogues

This research aims to analyze the seminars held in the graduate school
in engineering department of T.I.T.  In order to describe
protocol, this analysis focused on the paraphrased parts of dialogues
between foreign students, Japanese students and instructors.  In the
analysis 12 types of paraphrases were considered, such as a word to a
word, words to words, a sentence to a sentence, sentences to
sentences, etc. We observed how these various paraphrases occurred in
each utterance of coherent discourses as mutual understanding process. 
As a result we noticed a certain kind of speakers group according to
their knowledge backgrounds and language abilities.

We also transcribed video data in the form of dialogue corpus.
